Description

The Indians used masks during ritual spectacles called Potlaches. These lavish ceremonies celebrated the privileges and status of the host clan. It took many years to accumulate this extravagance of richness distributed to the guests in the form of food and gifts. By accepting them the guests became official witnesses to these social events and thereby acknowledged their validity.
